Did you know that you can mute the sound of the entire system by simply holding the mute button on the DualSense for about one second? I had a PS5 for months, but only now did I realize that this hidden feature exists after that watch a YouTube video that the algorithm served me. You will know that it works if the orange mute lamp gently sprinkles, then you will not hear any system noises.
Apparently this trick works to mute all audio, regardless of the audio source, whether it’s your speakers, headphones plugged into the controller’s 3.5mm jack, a wireless game headphone jack, or one plugged into one of the USB ports of the console is turned on, turned on. Although the DualSense has limited computer support, it appears that this feature is exclusive to PS5.
This video is not the exclusive source for this information, and does not appear to be the first to contact us about the feature. A Google search for this feature shows that a steady stream of players are accidentally coming down on a running basis, perhaps as more PS5 consoles become available for purchase.
Since the console is still hard to buy, let alone still in stock, I thought it would be useful for anyone reading this and trying their luck to get one. I’m not sure I would have ever figured it out myself if I had not been served the one video.
This is a handy feature, although it will take some practice for me to use this feature as opposed to my usual damping method, which is just to pull off my headphones.
